description La presente investigación es de tipo descriptiva – correlacional de corte transversal, se realizó con la finalidad de determinar la relación que existe entre el nivel de información y grado de ansiedad del familiar del adulto sometido a cirugía abdominal. Hospital Belén de Trujillo – 2016. La muestra estuvo conformada por 102 familiares; para la recolección de la información se utilizaron dos instrumentos, un cuestionario para medir el nivel de conocimiento y una escala para medir el grado de ansiedad. Los resultados indican que el 31% de familiares presentan un buen nivel de información, el 34% presenta un nivel de información regular y el 35% un nivel malo de información; con respecto a la ansiedad el 3% presenta un grado leve, el 39% un grado moderado y el 58% un grado grave de ansiedad. La aplicación de la prueba estadística de Tau-b de Kendall muestra una relación inversa (-), de grado muy fuerte (.76˂ Tau-b ˂.90) y altamente significativa (p˂.01) entre el Nivel de información y el grado de ansiedad en familiares del adulto sometido a cirugía abdominal, Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
