|Summary:||BACKGROUND: Hypercholesterolemia is a common finding in patients with chronic kidney disease. Some studies show that there is a relationship between the progression of altered renal function in these patients and the presence of hypercholesterolemia. OBJECTIVE: To establish the association between hypercholesterolemia and the alteration grade of renal function in adult patients with chronic kidney disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An observational, cross-sectional, analytical study was carried out in which 147 clinical histories of patients with chronic renal disease were reviewed, which were divided into two groups according to the alteration grade of renal function, then searched the presence of the hypercholesterolemia factor and finally the appropriate statistical formulas were applied to find their association. RESULTS: The chi-square test showed a statistically significant difference with p <0.05 (p = 0). With a 95% confidence level. CONCLUSIONS: Hypercholesterolemia is associated to the alteration grade of renal function in adult patients with chronic kidney disease, in patients with chronic kidney disease|
