|Summary:||The present research is of applied type and descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional and relational by design. The proposed problem was: ¿Have the life styles influence in the academic performance of the medical students? The hypothesis proposed was: the life styles have influences in the academic performance of the medical students. The general goal was: To determine if the life styles influences in the academic performance of the medical students of the UNT-School of Medicine in the period 2007. The specific goals were: 1º To Determine the frequency of the healthful styles of life in the medical students of the UNT; 2º To determine the frequency of the non-healthful styles of life in the medical students of the UNT and 3º To determine the academic performance in the courses of Public Health of the medical students. Was used all the universal sample, that is, the totality of students registered in academic year 2007 from first to sixth year who made a total of 552 students female and male. The results showed that 87% of medical students practice healthful styles of life and 13% did not. In the academic performance we found that 75% had a good academic performance and 8% in the rank of excellent. Finally, the relation between styles of life and academic performance we found that of the 482 students that practiced healthful styles of life 408 (74%) they had a good academic performance and 46 (08%) excellent performance. The conclusion is that the healthful styles of life have influence in a good academic performance of the medical students in the School of Medicine – National University of Trujillo.|
