|Summary:||The main objective of the research was to establish the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Academic Performance in first grade students of the secondary level of EI No. 81001 "Republic of Panama". The sample consisted of 39 1st grade students " E ", whose ages are between 11 and 12 years old. The variable Emotional Intelligence was measured through the inventory of Emotional IQ Barium: In children and adolescents adapted to the Peruvian reality by Nelly Ugarriza and Liz Pajares. Regarding the variable Academic Performance, the grades of the final evaluation minutes were used. The results showed that there is a correlation between both variables. It was also found that the level of Emotional Intelligence of the students is in the average level and the academic performance is in the scale of achievement expected, in terms of sex, there are no differences in the total emotional quotient and academic performance.|
