description En los últimos años se han conseguido importantes avances en el tratamiento del paciente con trauma grave, tanto en la atención prehospitalaria como en el servicio de urgencia. Además, uno de los principales ingresos al servicio de emergencia son los accidentes de tránsito, los cuales generan mucho daño a la víctima inclusive la muerte. La atención previa al traslado y ya en el establecimiento mismo de salud son cruciales para la sobrevivencia y posterior recuperación de estos pacientes. El objetivo es describir las actividades que realiza el profesional de enfermería en el cuidado del paciente politraumatizado en el servicio de emergencia. Como metodología se utilizó el estudio monográfico con diseño de investigación documental de tipo retrospectivo y se consultaron en diferentes fuentes de datos electrónicas usando operadores boléanos AND y OR. Se concluyo que en el cuidado del paciente PLT en el servicio de emergencia las intervenciones van direccionados en base al A, B, C, D del trauma y que estas se realizan teniendo en cuenta la taxonomía NIC.
