Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this study was to determine the molecular presence of Hepatozoon in dogs from the province of Mendoza, Argentina. The 18S gene was analysed in seven dogs with clinical signs compatible with canine hepatozoonosis. In addition, the evaluation of blood parameters and smears, as well as phylogenetic analysis, was carried out. Sequences 100% compatible with Hepatozoon canis were obtained, and anaemia was evident in all the individuals analysed. This is the first molecular determination of the protozoan in Mendoza, Argentina.
